Tax Call Scams

Good morning and welcome back to Fraud Fridays!

Today, we will be talking about Tax Call Scams.

You get a call from somebody claiming to be from your country's tax agency. They will claim you have unpaid taxes that must be paid immediately. Further alleging you may be arrested or have other legal action taken against you if it is not paid. This scam has caused the American IRS, Canadian CRA, British HMRC, and Australian Tax Office to issue warnings. This scam happens in a wide variety of countries all over the world. Though I could pull all the information from the IRS website, there would be a lot of repeat statements when I inevitably link the official IRS notice. IRS.gov
